The album title? It's actually a simple story: Mzi would always play Lupe's 'kick
push' remix when mixing down and referencing (He won't want me telling the world
this). That song is the Holy Grail to him in terms of mastering and perfect levels.
It gives him wet dreams.
He'd crucify me for Cush's sampling technique because
it would make it hard for him to mixdown due to the fact that Cush wouldn't break
a sample up into its individual parts when making the beat. He still doesn't...for
example, he'd sometimes sample a horn section and you'd hear drums 'below' it. That
drove Mzi crazy.
I was indifferent...I'm no engineer(-: Anyway, when Lupe's song starts, the opening lines are "look at what we did..." In the end it only made sense to call the album that.
